Campground Overview: Verde Glen is a popular dispersed camping and recreational area located north of Payson on the Tonto National Forest. During the summer months, Verde Glen is a fun escape for kids and parents. There are no designated campsites, drinking water, toilets, or trash services.
Located along the Verde River we have sandy open campsites available as well as grassy field sites. The location is second to none with Wine Tasting, Kayaking, Hiking, Swimming, Biking, all within only a few minutes of camp. Sedona and Jerome within a short drive.
Campgrounds . Two campgrounds lie along the river just below Bartlett Lake. Riverside Access Point (fs.usda.gov) is the first area to access the river below the lake. Needles Rock RAP (fs.usda.gov) is further downstream, easily accessed from the community of Rio Verde . Both facilities have vault toilets, picnic tables and grills.
Dispersed camping is allowed in the national forest areas around the river . No live baitfish may be transported to the Verde River above Horseshoe Dam and only live baitfish caught from the Verde River may be used in the Verde River from Horseshoe Dam to Tuzigoot Bridge.
12/5/2016 · Dispersed Camping is allowed up to 300 feet from the road as long as you are 1 mile past the Day Use camping area. This site and others in the Coconino National Forest are on this GPS enabled PDF map (Avenza App): 2016 Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM). Camping is allowed where there are dots beside the road.
11/13/2010 · This is a nice area to camp above the Verde River . There are plenty of campsites at this RV park and all types and sizes of RVs can easily camp here. There is even a “ campground host”. You’ll have convenient access to Cottonwood (only 4 miles away) and Camp Verde . The view of the Black Hills is excellent and accessing the Verde River is easy.
